1 (11)
Bama Lama
J: Oliver Searle (5) T: B R Millman F: 4-78331
Racing Post Rating:   67
Weight:   9st 9lbs
Age:   6

Spotlight Five-time winner; looked as good as ever when scoring over C&D (good to firm) nine days ago but is effectively 5lb higher today (raised 3lb, Oliver Searle claimed 7lb last week) and might be a shade vulnerable.

4 (14)
Diamondsinthesand
J: Cam Hardie T: A Wintle F: 228425
Racing Post Rating:   69
Weight:   9st 8lbs
Age:   7

Spotlight Has very modest 1-31 strike-rate but scores pretty good marks for his consistency this year; dropped 1lb since last week's running-on fifth behind Bama Lama; probably won't be far away.

10 (4)
Port Noir
J: S D Bowen (5) T: R Stephens F: 183074
Racing Post Rating:   69
Weight:   9st 4lbs
Age:   7

Spotlight Steadily regressive mare who has become inconsistent; gave good account when fourth behind Bama Lama over C&D (good to firm) nine days ago but others have more appealing profiles.

14 (1)
Destiny's Spirit
J: Gina Mangan (3) T: D J S Ffrench Davis F: 768-955
Racing Post Rating:   69
Weight:   9st 0lbs
Age:   4

Spotlight Arguably ran better than the bare from suggests when fifth on both 7f starts last month and may benefit from today's drop back in trip but hasn't won since her 2yo season and others appeal more.

7 (8)
One Hart
J: T P Queally T: D Donovan F: 475091
Racing Post Rating:   67
Weight:   9st 8lbs
Age:   7

Spotlight Back on song with narrow win in 15-runner Lingfield handicap (7f, good to firm) last week, his sixth career success; not one to rely upon heavily but remains well handicapped on form as recent as the winter and can cope with today's drop back in trip.

6 (15)
Savannah Smiles
J: Callum Hutchinson (3) T: G Harris F: 148653
Racing Post Rating:   70
Weight:   9st 8lbs
Age:   4

Spotlight Three-time AW winner; 0-9 on turf but posted sound effort when third behind very progressive mare here (5f, good to soft) at end of May and today's longer trip probably suits her better; might be the answer.

13 (13)
Louis Treize
J: Zoe Lewis (7) T: D Faulkner F: 694525
Racing Post Rating:   68
Weight:   9st 0lbs
Age:   8

Spotlight Dual course winner off higher marks last year (5f/6f) and seemingly back in good nick when clear second to bang-in-form rival here (5f, good to soft; first run in today's headgear combination) last month; needs to bounce back from disappointing run nine days ago but still enters calculations.

5 (16)
Global Effort
J: Josephine Gordon T: P S McEntee F: 5-45061
Racing Post Rating:   68
Weight:   9st 8lbs
Age:   4

Spotlight Came good at 20th attempt, keeping on well to score by a neck at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) a fortnight ago; can cope with recent 2lb nudge and should be fine back on turf; one to consider.

11 (3)
Mintana
J: Joe Leavy (5) T: H J Evans F: 10-4486
Racing Post Rating:   67
Weight:   9st 2lbs
Age:   4

Spotlight Three-time AW winner, most recently in September; safely held in basement-grade classified race when back on turf at Bath (5.7f, good to firm) ten days ago and not the most obvious answer here.

12 (7)
Miss Billie
J: Hector Crouch T: M Wigham F: 90-899
Racing Post Rating:   63
Weight:   9st 0lbs
Age:   4

Spotlight Well down the field on all five outings, the last twice in AW handicaps (1m2f/7f); contests her first sprint today; major improvement needed.

3 (5)
Porterinthejungle
J: Taylor Fisher (3) T: D Faulkner F: 4/2548-0
Racing Post Rating:   67
Weight:   9st 8lbs
Age:   8

Spotlight Hampered at start, raced too freely and finished well down the field in C&D race won by Bama Lama on recent seasonal/stable debut; might come on for the run but others have much less to prove.

16 (2)
Glamorous Star
J: Jack Doughty (7) T: A W Carroll F: 00/549-9
Racing Post Rating:   55
Weight:   9st 0lbs
Age:   4

Spotlight Seven-race maiden; made the frame off today's basement mark over C&D (good to soft) last summer but absent since down-the-field AW run in January and needs to find improvement from somewhere.

9 (10)
Ishani
J: Rhys Clutterbuck T: M Hunt F: 488-008
Racing Post Rating:   62
Weight:   9st 4lbs
Age:   5

Spotlight Belied 66-1 odds when close third in 7f AW maiden a year ago but has struggled to get competitive in handicaps since; drops back from 1m and sports first-time visor today.

15 (12)
Musaytir
J: Edward Greatrex T: G Harris F: 767980
Racing Post Rating:   61
Weight:   9st 0lbs
Age:   6

Spotlight Can be excused last month's defeat over 1m on soft ground but has been out of form form a good while now and is very difficult to enthuse over; refitted visor the headgear of choice today.

Horse Racing Betting & Odds

Betting on horse racing

From the Grand National at Aintree to the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Derby at Epsom, at BoyleSports we bring you all the best horse racing betting markets and odds for all the races that matter. You’ll have odds on outright winners, you can bet on horses to place or back your chosen horse each way. You can place horse racing Accas or make a tricast bet. We’ve got all the race cards for races in the UK and Ireland, and right across the world. And that’s not forgetting our continually updated horse racing tips and predictions too.

But we’re not just about the showpiece races. Our horse racing betting includes daily markets on all major single meetings throughout the racing calendar, with today’s horse racing odds live right up until the race begins. We also have virtual events running every minute with 10 different virtuals to choose from, giving you the chance to bet on horse racing just the way you want to.

How do I bet on Horse Racing?

Before you make a bet on a horse, there are a few factors to consider. Form is key for horse race betting, as you want to pick a horse in strong form going into the race. The trainer and jockey also play a big part – just think what an experienced jockey matched with a top trainer can do. Then there’s also the age and weight of the horse to consider, as well as the timing of their last race. All of these factors can come into play in the heat of a race and can have a decisive role in the outcome.

So, you’ve considered all the important factors. It’s time to make your bet. But there’s so much more to a horse bet than simply picking a winner. Of course, you can bet on a horse to finish first, but you can also bet each way–this means you win if your horse either finishes first or in one of the top places. And then there’s spread betting. This is where you bet against the spread rather than placing a bet on fixed odds.

It’s time to choose your race, your horse and your type of bet. And off they go.

How do odds work on Horse Racing?

You’ve read the betting tips and you’ve made your prediction, but how do horse racing odds work?

The first thing you need to understand is the odds to win. This could be 4/1 or 10/1 for example, or even 100/1 for a real outsider. A horse at 4/1 has a 20% chance of winning. If it were to win you would win 4x your original stake. So, if you bet £10, your return would be £40 plus your original bet.

Now that’s the simple part. Horse race odds will also include odds to place for each way betting. An each way bet is where you make two bets. One to win, and one to place. The odds to win will be shown in the usual way.

The odds to place will also be a fraction, usually 1/4 or 1/5 – these reduced odds represent the fact there’s a higher probably your horse will finish in any of the top four or five places than first. For a £10 bet for a horse at10/1 with EW odds of 1/5, your winnings would be calculated as follows:

To finish first at 10/1  £100 profit  £10 stake.

To place  EW 1/5  £20 profit  £10 stake
